Venezuela surprises the baseball world at the 2000 Little League Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.

Overcoming obstacles, it seems, was nothing new for the Little League Baseball team from Maracaibo, Venezuela, representing the Latin American region at the 2000 Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. The team's flight to the United States was delayed more than 12 hours, so the team arrived late and tired in Williamsport for the start.

From Kutno to Williamsport

As a new fund-raising plan is announced to raise $4 million to build the Little League Baseball Leadership Training Center in Kutno, the first outside the USA, we review the recent Little League World Series.

Each spring millions ofyoungsters begin their annual journey on the road to Williamsport with dreams of playing in the Little League World Series. In villages and towns on every continent except Antarctica, boys and girls aged ten to twelve take to ball fields in the hope ofqualifying for this mostprestigious tournament of all.

The month of October always reminds us that Mr. Edward J. Piszek, the successful businessman, humanitarian and great friend of Poland for the last 40 years, celebrates his birthday. This year it is his 85th and he is still very active in Poland and on behalf of Poland.

The Animal Testing Debate

Barry Horne, Britain's most infamous animal rights campaigner, died in prison last year. He had been on hunger strike for over a month. He refused to eat until the British government set up a commission to look into experimentation on animals in the medical and cosmetic industries. Before he died Barry said that he was, "on strike for every animal in every torture laboratory in the world."

The Peace Corps (PC) came to Poland at the request of the Polish Government in early 1990. That is anundeniable fact, but it is only part of the truth. It wasn' t quite that simple.
