Letters to the Editor

Thanks to everyone who sent in entries to our SMS Poetry competition. We only have space to print a few of them. We also have had many suggestions to our Top Ten Love Songs of All Time. We receive many entries by e-mail these days, without home addresses accompanying them. So, if you see your name here then please send us your home address details and we will send you a CD as a prize.

Olga Nowacka, Police

A great little poem, Olga. It works as a poem, is simple to understand, and it makes clever and inventive use of the SMS "code". Other entries we received were just as good. Look at this one:

2 U

GO A LONG WA
BUT DON'T 4CA MI 2 STA
IM FED UP WITH ALL I C
IF I GO DON'T LOOK 4 MI

AL IN AL ITS D BEST WA
DON'T BE AL @ C
AND DON'T TRI 2 DTAIN IT
JUST 4GET ABOUT MI

Which in normal English looks something like this:

To You

Go a long way
But don't force me to stay
I'm fed up with all I see
If I go, don't look for me

All in all it's the best way
Don't be all at sea
And don't try to detain it
Just forget about me

Eliza Szachowicz, Płonsk

Now you get the idea, can you work out how these next two look in real English?
